Amardo Wesley Pitters was born in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica, West Indies. He obtained his high school diploma from the Jesuit institution, St, George’s College, in Kingston, Jamaica. He continued his Jesuit education at Spring Hill College, in Mobile, Alabama.  Thereafter, he attended University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he obtained a Juris Doctorate.

As law student he clerked with the Birmingham law firm, Cooper, Mitch, Crawford, Kuykendall & Whatley. It was there that he developed an interest in civil rights litigation and employment law, as its founder Jerome "Buddy" Cooper was a pioneer in labor law and civil rights litigation. Mr. Cooper also inspired young Pitters to pursue a judicial clerkship, as he himself had a tremendous and invaluable experience from his clerkship with former United States Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black. Upon graduating from law school Attorney Pitters served as a law clerk to Judge Sharon Gilbert Yates of the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals . He was the first black lawyer to have served the court. After serving on Alabama’s appellate court he went into private practice with the law firm Terry G. Davis, P.C. in Montgomery, Alabama.  During his years with the firm he represented, among other clients, Alabama State University, Alabama Education Association, and Alabama Democratic Conference. While at the Davis law firm, Attorney Pitters served as lead counsel in the case of

Jewel Jackson, et al. v. Fob James, Governor of the State of Alabama; Jack Thompson, Commissioner of Agriculture; and Pat Duncan, State Auditor.   

In that case, he garnered a $1.2 million settlement in favor of the plaintiffs.

In March 1997, Attorney Pitters established The Law Offices of A. Wesley Pitters, P.C.  Attorney Pitters is admitted to the Alabama State Bar and is an attorney in good standing.  He is licensed to practice law in all state courts in the State of Alabama. He is also a member of the Federal Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama; The United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida;  the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit; and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the National Bar Association and its affiliates, the Alabama Lawyers Association and the Capital City Bar Association; he is a member of the American Bar Association; the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR JUSTICE and its affiliates the ALABAMA ASSOCIATION FOR JUSTICE and the Montgomery Association for Justice (formerly known as Trial Lawyers Association).

In addition to representing individual clients, Attorney Pitters also serves as legal counsel to business entities such as Alabama Education Association; National Security of Alabama, Inc., (DTA Security Services); Conecuh County Chapter of the NAACP; Alabama Democratic Conference; Concierge Services, Inc.; Burnett Civil Contracting, LLC; and radio disc jockey and personality “Killer Diller” Roscoe Miller (WKXK/WKXN; The Laicos).
